Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students 

Eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.-The following are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme:

  1. Candidates having Master’s Degree with not less than 55% of marks in the relevant or related subjects of this University or of any other University recognized by JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) as equivalent thereto.
  2. Candidates who are qualified for CA or ACS or ICWA with basic degree / NDA / MBBS / are also eligible to register for Ph.D.
  3. Candidates who have completed
    1. 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
    2. Candidate seeking admission after a **4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

      **4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme refers to honors degree with Research being part of their curriculum.
    3. Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National Students 

Foreign/ NRI applicants / Applicants with a master’s degree from a foreign university must apply with an equivalence certificate of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) along with the online application form.

Admissison Process 

  1. Written Test and the Interview
  2. Candidates who have qualified with valid scores in UGC-NET/UGC - CSIR (JRF) Examination NET//SLET/GATE are exempted from Entrance test and can appear directly for Interview.

Duration of the Ph.D. Course 

  1. • Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work, and a maximum of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.

Written test pattern 

  1. PART A:General Research Aptitude: Current affairs, general awareness, quantitative ability, test of reasoning, vocabulary and English skills.
  2. PART B:Subject specific: The candidates will have to appear for the subject for which they have applied for the Ph.D.
  3. Both the parts will carry 50 marks each of Multiple-Choice Questions (30 Marks) & Descriptive Questions (20 Marks)
  4. Candidates have to score a minimum of 50% with Part A and B together to qualify for the Interview.

Selection Process 

  1. After clearing the entrance test, the qualified candidates will be called for the interview.
  2. The interview will be conducted by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC).
  3. The Interview will be based on the proposal / synopsis submitted by the candidates at the time of applying. The theoretical, conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills will be assessed.
  4. Based on the interview results selected candidates will be informed.
  5. The DRC will allocate Guides to the candidates after completion of admission process.
